Project Engineer, Solar

A fast-growing Cleantech company currently working to establish 1 million electricity connections in off-grid communities by the year 2030 is seeking to have a resourceful and passionate individual join our team. We also support Commercial and Industrial organisations to help them discover ways of harnessing cleantech to reduce the electricity spend and carbon footprints. There is a HUGE task ahead of us and we are seeking an innovative, proactive and technically adept Solar Engineer who is able to rapidly manage the deployment Solar PV solutions in remote locations as well as in urban areas.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Execution:

  • Develop scope of works for solar projects and liaise with the Engineering Design team to come up with construction design packages and other supporting documentation.
  • We place a premium on Safety, hence you would be responsible for job site hazard identification and development of appropriate safety management plans for projects.
  • Resource planning for project implementation - identification and procurement of necessary project resources for project implementation.
  • Supervise installations in a timely and cost-effective manner maintaining high standards and compliance with best practices for solar installations.
  • Project document control - maintain up to date project/site documents.
  • Liaise with Management to improve company processes.
  • Participate, review and sign-off commissioning test reports.
  • Perform reporting functions to Management including weekly site reports.

Project Development:

  • Support our Business Development team with the required technical information for development of Solar PV solutions that align with the needs of our clients.
  • Technical project due diligence and project engineering design review.
  • Coordinate activities to retrieve energy consumption data and Energy production and performance modeling for PV and energy storage systems.
  • Manage communications with the Owners Engineers of our various clients.

 

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of BSc or HND in engineering (i.e. civil, structural, mechanical or electrical or similar technical degree).
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies (Nigeria Society of Engineers, COREN)
  • Completed training/certifications in Solar PV project design and implementation.
  • PMP certification a plus


EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience as a project manager, field engineer or project engineer preferred in the Solar PV space.
  • Experience as a project manager with responsibility for management of project budget, schedule, engineering performance, construction performance, commissioning performance, quality performance and safety performance required.
  • At least 2 years of engineering management of project teams preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in safety focused work environment required.

  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite and other Project Management Software.
  • Familiar with the use of Solar PV design software such as HOMER and Helioscope.
